Our first priority today is to amplify the call to end white supremacy. The calculated violence, terror and gaslighting of the white nationalist movement must be addressed. We can’t tolerate collusion with this ideology from our politicians and public figures. Our hearts are heavy and our thoughts are with the victims of the racial violence in Buffalo. For those who may be interested, here is a call for white people to mourn and organize together through Standing Up for Racial Justice.
We are reflecting in these weeks about the leaked Supreme Court Opinion which would overturn Roe vs. Wade — the personal toll of that decision, its impact on our loved ones, our communities, and on the climate movement. Co-Leader and Director of Narrative Strategy, AriDy Nox, shared their thoughts on the intersection between the struggle for reproductive rights and the fight for a safe climate on our blog. Here’s an excerpt:
“It is unethical to demand that child-bearing people give birth whilst also refusing to create a world that is habitable to the children they would give birth to. It is unethical to strip people of what little federal protection they have to obtain an abortion. It is doubly unethical to do so while refusing to pass any credible climate legislation while the Earth is made increasingly uninhabitable in the interests of corporate profit. People have the right to decide what to do with their bodies. And on a planet our governments are allowing to burn (and in many cases literally fueling the fire) it is not only immoral but absurd to try to strip people of that fundamental right.”

Earlier this month organizers from Sunrise Sonoma County Hub and Sonoma County Climate Mobilization, supported by our central staff, held a Transit Justice Rally, calling for public transportation that serves working people, lowering carbon emissions and creating safe, reliable and affordable public transit for all.
