By now you may have heard about The Uninhabitable Earth, a book by David Wallace Wells that is a momentous, raw account of the horrors of the climate emergency.
We encourage you all to pick up a copy, read it, digest it, and discuss it with friends and family. It will be difficult and frightening, but we must confront the truth to move forward to solutions.
When the Climate Mobilization started, we were a lonely voice amid a mostly gradualist environmental movement. But now we’re seeing that the reality and scope of climate change is being confronted.
Most recently Congressman Earl Blumenauer of Oregon announced plans to introduce a resolution to declare climate change a national emergency. And the Green New Deal, introduced by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY) and Senator Ed Markey (MA), and supported by the youth-led Sunrise Movement, has set the standard for national climate policy.
Now it is time for you to join the movement! You won’t be alone. You’ll be a part of the amazing group of activists and mobilizers that are doing the necessary work of the Climate Emergency movement.
We’ve put together a handy Take Action Guide that will show you exactly how to get started.
Become a part of The Climate Mobilization and lobby for your city to declare Climate Emergency and commit to eliminating emissions within ten years.
